Process
FAQ
Where will our session take place?
I am happy to travel anywhere within Summit County to take your photos.* If you have a specific location in mind, I will do my best to make that location work. If you do not have a location preference, I will offer suggestions or pick a location to meet your needs.
*If you have your heart set on a location outside of Summit County, I will attempt to accommodate it at the cost of small traveling fee.
How long does the whole processes take?
After our photoshoot, I will send you an email containing a link to view your image gallery to you within 2 to 3 weeks. When you click on that link, you will be able to view all your photos, watch your custom slideshow, and select the images you'd like to have fine-art edited. Once I've received your fine-art image selections, I will edited those images, upload them to your gallery, and notify you via email that they are available to view and download within 2 to 3 weeks.
What happens if I decide I want more fine-art images than were included in the package I purchased?
Don't worry, you are always welcome to purchase additional fine-art images at an a-la-carte rate! We will do this by having you fill your flagged, "Fine-Art," list first, then add any additional photos to your personal favorites list and let me know when you're finished. I'll be able to see both lists and complete the editing process. Then I will send you an invoice for the additional images and once paid, will add them to the gallery with the rest of your edited images.
How will I receive my images?
You will first receive an email containing a link which, once clicked, will bring you to your online gallery. Your images will be uploaded this gallery which includes access to full-gallery digital downloads and several physical print options through my online store. When you purchase physical prints from the gallery store, your products will be shipped to the address of your choosing, just like a normal online purchase transaction.
Can I have the RAW files?
My answer will always be no.
In the same way another artist wouldn't sell a half-finished painting or a partially sculpted statue, I will not sell an unfinished photo.
Family
FAQ
What should my family wear?
Ultimately, I want y'all to wear outfits that make you feel confident and are true to your personality and style. For a little extra assistance, after you have been scheduled for a family photo session, you will be sent an email which includes a styling guide pdf as well as a link to the shoppable styling website, “Style & Select,” which is free to use for all my clients. To use this website, you will fill out a short questionnaire that will allow the website to provide you with customized, photographer-approved outfit and accessory options for the whole family. You can shop for items directly through the website or simply use the options provided as inspiration.
I've never done a family photoshoot, what should I expect?
Throughout your photoshoot session, you will be guided through a series of a few formal and many informal poses. Formal poses will look like the family sitting or standing together and smiling at the camera while informal poses should look and feel like your family interacting and playing with one another in a natural and relaxed way. Prompts for these poses may sound like “Mom and dad - tickle the kiddos closest to you,” or “brother and sister - go run to mom and dad and give them a big hug,” or “touch your forehead and nose to the child in your arms,” etc. I will also make sure we’ve checked off any posing boxes you had on your list before our session comes to an end.
What happens if my children won't stand still or smile at the camera?
That is both perfectly normal and perfectly fine! We will start our session by attempting to capture a few formal poses, but if your little ones aren’t feeling it that day, we will just move right onto the informal, “natural” poses - those are usually more fun anyways and don’t require camera eye-contact or smiles (but those will usually come anyways)!
Who can be included in our family session?
Family Package 1 includes up to 6 immediate family members, Package 2 includes up to 8 family members and may include extended family, Package 3 includes up to 12 family members and may also include extended family.
Newborn
FAQ
How do I know this is right for me and my baby?
I specialize in styled, in-home photoshoot experiences. If you are looking for fine art photos of just your baby posed in props such as baskets or on plain fabric backdrops, I may be the right photographer for you! Check out my newborn gallery for examples of my personal style.
What does an in-home session look like?
When I first arrive, I will set up a mini studio space in your home that includes lighting, props, and supplies to make the space feel calm and comfortable for baby. After the studio space is prepared, we will begin with swaddled poses - either nestled in props or on a fabric-covered posing cushion. Once baby has settled into a deeper sleep/is comfortably relaxed, we can move onto any unswaddled poses. When we are finished taking all our photos, I will pack away my supplies, share next steps, and be on my way!
What should I do to prepare for my newborn's photoshoot?
For the area where the photoshoot will take place, I will need a 6’ x 6’ space with hard flooring to set up props and equipment. Ideally, the space will be in a quiet, calm part of the home with bright, natural light. I will also suggest that, if possible, the room temperature be set to 72 degrees or higher to keep baby nice and warm.
To prepare baby for the photoshoot, I’d request that you try to keep baby awake for 1 - 2 hours before the session begins and feed baby just before I arrive or as I am setting up the space.
And that’s it!
What do I need to prepare for my newborn's photoshoot?
Not much! I only ask that there is a supply of diapers, wipes, and milk on hand to keep baby happy and comfortable. Comforting items such as a pacifier or lovie may also helpful to have nearby.
What role will I play in the photoshoot process?
I would like for you to be my “right-hand-man” throughout the whole photoshoot process! And by this I mean that I would love for you to be nearby as I take your baby’s photos to be an extra set of eyes on baby, to keep a hand on baby if I need to move away, to hold baby for comforting or transitions between set-ups, and/or to feed/change baby if needed. I will also take your input on scene and outfit choices to be sure we achieve the perfect look for you and your baby. Other than that, I will take care of everything!
What if my home doesn't have great natural lighting?
No worries! I always bring lighting equipment with me and can set them up as necessary to create a natural light effect, even in darker spaces.
Senior
FAQ
What should I wear?
Above everything else you should choose something that makes you feel confident! I will usually suggest solid colors, small repeating prints, or floral patterns and would caution against stripes. Adding in textures such as velvet, lace, crochet, corduroy can also add visual interest
For women, outfit options such as flowy dresses/skirts, overalls/rompers, or cute jeans with a fun top can give your images a classic, memorable look.
For men, I’d suggest a nice pair of pants, a button-up shirt/high-quality t-shirt, and a cool pair of shoes. Accessories such as a fun hat, sunglasses, and jewelry can also make your session unique.
A special consideration for senior photoshoot attire are uniforms/outfits unique to sports or other activities you participated in during high school. Paraphernalia from your future college or workplace may additionally add a special touch to your photographs.
Upon booking your session, you will be sent a styling guide pdf as well as a link to the shoppable styling website, “Style & Select,” where you will be shown several customized outfit options you can purchase or use as outfit inspo.
Where should I have my photos taken?
We are fortunately in a location with an abundance of beautiful outdoor locations for photo sessions and we can look into a variety of scenic locations across Summit county to find one that speaks to you. Additionally, we can discuss options for locations that have personal significance to you such as the school you attended, a sporting field you played on, or other locations you frequented throughout high school.
Who can be included in my photos?
Your senior photos will include yourself, and if desired, your parents. If you have any additional requests for your photoshoot, we can definitely discuss options together!
What if I'm definitely NOT a model?
Well luckily for you, you do not need to be a model or have any photoshoot experience whatsoever to look stunning in your senior photos and feel great throughout your photo session. You will be guided through a series of simple poses and prompts that should look and feel natural to you and you can leave all the work of lighting and angles up to me!
